Hi, I’m Theo Jones from Green Mat Workshop. We teach across many universities focusing on the skills your studio tutors may not have time to focus on.
I’d like to share some downloads and websites we’ve curated on our architecture resource page. This comprehensive list covers a wide range of categories, specially tailored for architecture and interior design students and professionals. We hope the resources, give you a competitive edge on submissions or last-minute saves.
Most of the websites listed are entirely free, organised into the following categories: people, colours, CAD blocks, icons, stock images, fonts, visualisation and don’t forget books. While the top ones hold our highest recommendation, be sure to explore the full list for multiple options.
Cut-out people
In the ‘People’ section of our resource page, you’ll find an array of cutout people and objects to enhance your architectural designs. To get started, check out websites like Immediate Entourage and Skalgubbar. For a more diverse and inclusive range of cutout people, consider visiting Cut Out People and Black Img.
We encourage you to break away from using the same entourage people and discover fresh alternatives in our collection.
Colour palettes
Colours play a crucial role in architectural design, particularly when it comes to your portfolio. We recommend using colour palette generators like the Adobe Color Wheel and Coolors, which can assist you in creating harmonious colour schemes for your projects.
CAD blocks & maps
For CAD resources, we suggest exploring CAD Mapper for global CAD maps and Dimensions for free CAD people, plants, furniture, and even Yoda! You can also find free and premium CAD blocks on ACAD-Block and Bibliocad.
Font and Icons
You can find thousands of vector icons on The Noun Project, royalty-free stock photos on Pexels, and a collection of free fonts on Google Fonts. However, exercise caution with using icons in architecture portfolio design, as they might not always be the best option.
Visualisation
When it comes to architectural visualization, our top choice is Architextures.
While we provide one of the largest collections of resources, remember that websites like ArchDaily, offer a plethora of articles, projects, and resources that can further enhance your architectural knowledge and skills.
If you know of any essential websites that we may have missed, please don’t hesitate to let us know!
