Business Development Manager at Innovative Architecture Practice in London

About the Role
As a Business Development Manager, you will play a crucial role in the studio’s operations team, reporting directly to the Director of Business Development. You will work closely with the Managing Director, Bidding Manager, in-house legal team, and business development teams in New York, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Los Angeles, and Shenzhen. Your primary focus will be on the UK market, with opportunities to explore new submarkets and sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop content independently while discussing key strategy points with the Director of Business Development.
- Create initiatives that support the acquisition of projects and new business.
- Strengthen the studio’s presence and positioning in existing markets, primarily in the UK.
- Open new submarkets and sectors, leading new business initiatives and managing the pipeline.
- Maintain and expand connections with clients, consultants, and collaborators.
- Lead and deliver special projects and proactive activities.
- Run several simultaneous pursuits from start to finish with limited oversight, including turning leads into projects and coordinating technical and commercial proposals.
- Vet all RFPs/RFQs/RFIs and oversee submissions, presenting strategic ideas that distinguish the firm’s submissions.
- Host meetings with potential clients, lead follow-ups, and develop recommendations for new projects.
- Give office and project tours to clients, consultants, and VIPs.
- Represent the studio at events and conferences in the UK.
- Conduct market research and develop marketing materials.
- Participate in leadership pipeline meetings and global business development meetings.
- Maintain CRM databases and present reports on new and potential projects.
- Prepare regular status updates, both ad-hoc and weekly.
- Take initiative and bring innovative ideas to the table.
- Interface with internal departments to complete tasks (i.e., bidding, operations, legal).
About You
- 4-6 years of experience in a similar position within the construction industry.
- Solid understanding of architecture, building procedures, and urban planning in the UK; experience in the Middle East is a plus.
- Ability to strategize new business development initiatives and run multiple simultaneous pursuits with limited oversight.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a proactive and independent approach.
- Self-discipline and confidence in an ad-hoc environment.
- Experience with CRM systems (experience with Sugar is a plus).
- Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign.
- Excellence in English, both spoken and written.
