A large design‑led architecture and urban design studio is seeking a Senior Urban Designer to join it's team based in Central London.
This role is suited to an Urban Designer looking to step up into a Senior position, as well as someone with strong design capability and experience contributing meaningfully to large‑scale urban, masterplanning and regeneration projects across both high and low density. You will work closely with architects and landscape designers, taking responsibility for design development and supporting the delivery of high‑quality urban design outputs.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design and development of urban design and masterplanning projects from concept through to detailed stages
- Prepare high‑quality drawings, diagrams, layouts and reports to support design narratives
- Support project leaders with design coordination, presentations and client engagement
- Undertake site analysis, spatial studies and movement strategies at a range of scales
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated design outcomes
- Assist with design reviews, workshops and public consultation material where required
- Mentor junior designers and foster a culture of creativity and collaboration
Requirements:
- 4–5 years’ professional experience in urban design or masterplanning
- Strong design skills with a clear understanding of urban form, density, placemaking and public realm
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCAD, with 3D software experience advantageous
- Clear visual and written communication skills
- Strong grasp of UK planning policy and building regulations
- The right to live and work in the UK
