Mackenzie Wheeler is looking for an experienced architectural technologist to work on an exciting range of architectural and interior design projects featuring hotels, pubs and restaurants. These projects encompass new buildings, refurbishment work, and work on listed buildings.
We are seeking an experienced architectural technologist to join and contribute to our growing portfolio. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a well-rounded professional with strong technical expertise and a track record of delivering high-quality buildings within UK architectural practice. You will play a key role in the technical design stages of their projects, producing coordinated, efficient and compliant design solutions that meet the high standards of which they strive.
Have a degree-qualified architectural technologist (CIAT certified desirable) with a minimum of three years working experience working in a similar role. Proficiency in working with AutoCAD.
Possess the ability to produce detailed, compliant drawing packages through RIBA stages 3–5, demonstrating a flexible all-round skill set capable of producing and managing early-stage information in addition to more detailed stages.
Have an understanding of UK building regs, technical design standards and legislation, as well as an enthusiasm to obtain and use new materials and embrace modern methods of construction.
Will be a team player with good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members, as well as consultants, clients and contractors, both in person and remotely.
Mackenzie Wheeler delight in creating places where people feel comfortable, happy and inspired. This might be at work or play, studying alone in a library or propping up the bar with friends. Wherever it is, it is about people, and their enjoyment, comfort and safety.
Our design process begins at the micro level, encompassing furniture, equipment, space, light, acoustics, and materials, culminating in an interior. Progressing, we envelop this interior within a building structure, transitioning to the macro scale, integrating with the public realm and surroundings, be it urban or rural, ancient or modern.
Each project initiates with a narrative, shaping and guiding its evolution, offering entertainment, enlightenment, remembrance (in historical contexts), and, crucially, a vision for the future. We believe in a narrative-driven approach, where form follows fiction, fostering emotional connections and community identity.
This storytelling necessitates thorough research, analysis, and attentive listening, our most prized skill. We approach each project without preconceptions, allowing the narrative to guide our exploration, in collaboration with our partners, to realize and sustain the vision to fruition.
We steer the narrative with our writing, design, and sketches, ensuring operational efficiency, program adherence and cost control, mindful of the commercial landscape. Our methodology has yielded successful outcomes, enriching both users and hosts alike.
