Architectural Practice Leader - Healthcare

We are looking for a Practice Leader to join our Healthcare team in San Francisco to support people and projects under the direction of the Regional Leader of Healthcare and practice leadership. The primary duties of this role will include acting as PIC/Sr PM on select projects, which could involve travel and attendance in Integrated Project Delivery Big rooms and Colocations offices, day-to-day staffing, and people management of the San Francisco Healthcare group, as well as business development.
Responsibilities
Leadership
- In collaboration with Practice Principals, develop and execute strategic practice planning and marketing strategies.
- Assist Design Principal and Marketing Principal in the organization, budget, and delivery of design competitions.
- Act as a mentor to project managers and other practice staff by providing technical expertise and leadership.
- Coach and motivate design teams and individuals; foster an environment of mutual respect and trust among group members as it grows and develops.
- Take personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
- May act as Project Manager of assigned projects.
- Foster a culture of external and internal client service.
Business Development
- Participate in developing the annual business plan for the practice.
- Identify new business opportunities while developing current client relationships.
- Listen for and seek out new projects which may exist or are being formulated.
- Participate in selected marketing and business development opportunities.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with consultants, contractors, and jurisdictional/approval agencies.
- Assist in the development of fee proposals for marketing proposals.
- Participate in local or state professional associations, maintain active membership, and attend conferences valued by clients as appropriate.
Staff Development
- Prepare and deliver design staff evaluations; responsible for performance development, compensation decision-making, and allocation processes of the department.
- Support diversity, HOKU programs, and develop continuing education opportunities (e.g., site visits, lectures, road trips) to expose design staff to influences that will stimulate design creativity and innovation.
- Participate in interviews and recruiting of professional staff.
- Encourage staff exploration and innovation to achieve project design excellence and continual improvement.
Required Skills

- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Thorough knowledge of sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines.
- Knowledge of buildingSMART, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Integrated Project Delivery (IDP).
- Proficiency in basic technical skills of architecture including the following computer skills:
- Proficiency in Deltek Vision highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Primavera or MS Project preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Proficiency in Newforma preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop preferred.
- Proficiency in Revit preferred.
- Knowledge of 3D Modeling software such as 3D Studio Max and Viz 2006 preferred.
- Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture or equivalent in education or experience required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- 15 years’ experience in architectural practice with prior management experience in all phases of projects through post-occupancy.
- Licensed Architect with current registration in your region required, if licensure is offered in your region.
- NCARB registration preferred.
- LEED Credential required within 6 months of employment.

Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, education, and location. The reasonably expected annual salary range for this position is $180,000 to $200,000.
