About

Alicia Yau is a communications and marketing professional working in the built environment, currently based in Hong Kong with Brunswick Group, a global advisory firm.

She studied architecture at the University of Westminster, graduating at Part 1 in 2014. Early in her career she realised her interest lay in the business of architecture rather than design, a view shaped by internships that included time at a structural engineering practice in London, where she saw how architects, engineers, contractors and consultants come together on a project.

Alicia went on to work in architectural recruitment at Shape Careers before moving into public relations and communications with Carroll Communications, a London agency specialising in architecture and design. She later joined Brunswick Group, where she advises clients across property and the wider built environment, with a network that spans both architects and developers.

On the Architecture Social Podcast she talks about business development and marketing in architecture: knowing your worth, negotiating fees, building relationships with clients and media, and why undervaluing architectural services tends to work against good outcomes.
