Amandeep Kalra is an architect and urban designer. At the time of this Architecture Social conversation he was an Associate Director in the design team at Be First, the regeneration company wholly owned by the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, helping lead a small in-house team across strategic visions, brief writing, research, design and project management.
He works at the intersection of public and private practice and engages closely with residents, planners, policymakers, developers and politicians. On the podcast he shared practical advice on procurement, fees, pitching and how small practices can break into public sector work, drawing on his experience on both sides of the client relationship.
