Apprenticeship funding cuts set to cost architecture firms ‘millions’, study shows

Architecture firms face financial losses due to apprenticeship cuts, highlights collaboration in modern workspace.

“Stephen Drew, founder of online careers platform Architecture Social, described the cuts as an ‘act of vandalism’ last month. He has now said they risk shrinking the pool of talented architects in the UK.

Drew said: ‘UVAC has now stuck a price tag on the damage: £214 million a year in extra training costs that [companies] will have to fund themselves. Many small and mid-sized studios will simply walk away, shrinking the talent pipeline just as workloads pick up and deadlines bite.’

Thank you to Josh Butler at the Architects Journal for following up and asking for my opinion on this important matter.
