Aspire Clubhouse

Aspire Clubhouse is the social heart of the Calleya seniors' village in Perth, designed by Hames Sharley as a resort-style facility for residents seeking a contemporary, discerning retirement experience. Conceived as a natural extension of residents' own homes, it is where people gather to socialise, reach health and well-being amenities and connect with the Village Manager.

A "U" shaped plan wraps a central courtyard, and the indoor and outdoor zones read as one through the continuous flow of materials and furniture. The clubhouse holds a wide range of amenities, including media facilities, a swimming pool, a bar, craft areas, a pool table, a commercial kitchen, a gym and dedicated areas for gathering. A double-sided fireplace and a shelving unit zone the large communal space, separating quiet reading corners from livelier social settings.

The interior concept treats the building's architectural fabric as the backdrop, letting strong, honest elements sit behind loose furniture and built-in joinery. A material palette of rammed earth, terrazzo, granite and timber gives the spaces a crafted, genuinely warm character, while soft edges and a natural palette suit the comfort needs of older residents. The result is grounded in the Western Australian vernacular, reflecting the state's natural beauty and giving the village a clear sense of place.
