About the Designer
David Gilhooley ACIAT is an Architectural Technologist, technical illustrator and award-winning sketch artist with over 45 years' experience in architectural practice. His career spans project delivery, BIM modelling, technical detailing, specification writing, architectural illustration and mentoring, with experience across residential, commercial, industrial and heritage sectors. He is currently preparing to begin an MA at the Royal College of Art.
David is the Yorkshire regional winner of Channel 5's Watercolour Challenge, recipient of the Denis Mason Jones Award for Architectural Sketching, founder and Head Judge of the Architects Benevolent Society's #Time2Sketch competition, and holder of a Guinness World Record for sketching 220 portraits in 12 hours. His interests focus on architectural sketching, watercolour, camera lucida drawing and the role of hand drawing as a tool for observation, communication and design thinking.
