About the Designer
Kimberly Yong has recently completed her Master of Architecture at the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University, and is due to graduate in July. She previously graduated with First Class Honours in BSc Architecture and has gained industry experience as a Part I Architectural Assistant, working across research, planning, feasibility, spatial strategy and visual communication. She is now seeking a Part II Architectural Assistant role where she can continue developing within practice.
Her final MArch design thesis explored a new workplace for fabrication and semiconductor processes, questioning how controlled technical environments can be made more visible, humane and environmentally accountable. The project was developed through “tridimensionalism”, her own design method for layering symbolic, functional and urban grids to organise complex spatial relationships. Her work combines strong visual communication with an interest in layered spatial systems, environmental responsibility and the relationship between architecture, people and wider urban contexts. Alongside her design work, Kimberly has contributed to architectural exhibitions, research-led material, international fieldwork and public-facing events, and is currently Exhibition Chair for the Welsh School of Architecture Summer Show 2026.
