"Moment of Stillness" is a project born from a simple yet powerful idea: what if we could heal our environment using what's already around us? It's about seeing potential in the overlooked - both in materials and places.

Moment of Stillness explores a radical approach to addressing environmental degradation and the consequences of capitalism by reimagining the skins of industrial sites. The project proposes using locally sourced agricultural waste—specifically corn cobs—to create a purifying material that absorbs air pollutants. Once processed in low Earth orbit, this material takes advantage of space's unique conditions to enhance its effectiveness as a "purifier skin," offering a groundbreaking solution for transforming neglected industrial areas.

About the Designer

Zahra Mohammadi is an award-winning architectural designer with a Master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Westminster, where she graduated with Distinction. She received the Jila Golzari Award for Engagement with and Contribution to the Course, as well as the Weston Williamson + Partners Award for the Most Creative Thesis and Inclusive City Design. With over five years of industry experience across multiple countries, Zahra specializes in sustainable design and innovative materials. Currently, she is exploring new opportunities in architectural design, focusing on sustainability and creative solutions.
