Fabric Architecture Studio completed a major renovation of the Town Hall Hotel in Waratah, Newcastle, turning the heritage-listed pub around on a tight 15-week programme.
The hotel carries 153 years of history. It dates to 1866, when it was granted one of the first licences in the locality and opened as the Green Gate Inn. It later traded as the Marchant's Family Hotel, then took the name Town Hall Hotel in 1897 because of its position beside the Waratah Municipal Council Town Hall.
Completed in 2019 across two levels, the renovation balances the building's long history with a refreshed hospitality fit-out.
