This profile highlights the architecture portfolio of Borum Kim, a Part II Architectural Assistant with an MArch and BSc from the Welsh School of Architecture at Cardiff University.
At the time this project was first shared with Architecture Social, Borum was looking for a role in London. Her experience spans cultural, commercial and residential projects, with a particular interest in housing and public buildings.
Portfolio focus
Borum’s final design thesis, Make Yourself (at) Home, Inside and Outside, looks at how public realm can support housing development in the Royal Docks, London.

The project is a useful reminder that housing quality is not only about the homes themselves. Streets, routes, shared spaces and public life all shape how a neighbourhood feels and functions.
Why it is useful to review
For students and early-career designers, this is the kind of portfolio work that benefits from a clear story: what the site needs, what the proposal changes, and how the design improves everyday life for people using it.
