Completed in August 2018, QT Perth marked the final collaboration between Angelo Candelapas, Nic Graham and Indyk Architects under the QT brand. Indyk Architects designed the guest rooms, apartments and hallways throughout the hotel.
Each room is organised around a feature bathroom built from sliding and fixed glass panels, which keep the space open rather than closed off. The panels glow softly, lit glass cylinders catch the mirrored sliding doors, and the walls are finished in a moody black and white veined marble. Through the bathroom opening the eye settles on a rich velvet bedhead, mauve in the 'grape and vine' palette or golden ochre in the grey and gold scheme, while elsewhere cockatoos peer out from black veneered, brass detailed and wallpapered headboards.
The fitout was conceived as a 'family' of highly designed pieces, each varying in colour palette and material. Room sculptures take the form of black steel 'mandalas' drawn from aerial imagery of the Western Australian landscape. The overall impression is one of opulence and richness, of comfort and delight.
