Ravensbourne University London is a public university on the Greenwich Peninsula, home to a Department of Architecture and the Built Environment led by architect Alberto Villanueva. The department runs a connected cluster of courses spanning BA (Hons) Architecture, BEng (Hons) Architectural Design Engineering, BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Reuse, BA (Hons) Urban Landscape Architecture and MArch Architecture, taught with shared learning and a strong emphasis on cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Ravensbourne gained degree-awarding powers in 2018. Its BA (Hons) Architecture and BA (Hons) Interior Design Environment Architectures are validated by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), providing exemption from the RIBA Part 1 examination. Students learn through design studio work, workshops and lectures, with access to dedicated studios, computer labs running industry software, and AR and VR facilities, building an industry-standard portfolio through live, real-world projects.
The department is known for connecting education with industry, widening participation, and collaboration across disciplines, including architecture students working alongside games design and brand design students. Head of Department Alberto Villanueva joined Stephen Drew on the Architecture Social podcast to discuss the state of architectural education in 2025, bridging academia and industry, and the future of the profession.
