Apt is an architectural practice built on a creative and collaborative approach. Founded in 2009 and based in Clerkenwell, in the heart of London's design district, the studio creates architecture that inspires through great design, innovation and craftsmanship.
Apt works as a collective, in a transparent and logical way. The practice has no fixed house style and looks at every project afresh, creating desirable places to live and work that are richly detailed and diverse in character. Each scheme celebrates the culture, customs and heritage of its setting, reinforcing a sense of identity and place.
In 2018 Apt became an Employee Ownership Trust, reinforcing its identity as a design-focused collective with a diverse range of skills and backgrounds, united by a shared interest in progressive architecture. This structure allows the studio to nurture individual talent while recognising collective achievement, with opportunities for personal growth and career progression.
From its London studio, Apt works across a broad range of sectors, including workplace, housing, commercial, mixed-use, masterplanning, heritage, hospitality, retail, arts and community projects of all shapes and sizes, across London and the UK. Recent and flagship work includes King's Road Park in Fulham, The Earnshaw in Bloomsbury, 4 Portal Way, Euston House and the Merchant Square masterplan.
The studio's engaging design process combines sketching, model making, drawing and open discussion to produce buildings that are carefully considered and enjoyable to use. Above all, Apt sees its people as the heart of the practice, and its greatest strength lies in the energy and creativity of the individuals it brings together. This is Apt.
