The practice was founded by James Dunnett in 1983, and he remains the principal designer, closely involved in every stage of each project.
Our goal in every project is to precisely meet the client's requirements while creating spaces that embody the principles of 'Light, Space, Greenery.' We strive to design harmonious and delightful spaces that are a joy to experience and live in, while still fulfilling their functional purpose. In residential projects, we prioritize optimizing the relationship between the house and the surrounding garden.
While we have a deep appreciation for historic architecture and a keen interest in its preservation, we understand that this alone is not enough. The quality of our future environment depends largely on the structures we build now and how we meet our own needs. Therefore, the creation of new high-quality structures must go hand in hand with the conservation of the best elements from the past. James Dunnett has extensively studied the history and theory of architecture and urbanism from the past century. This research, reflected in the texts on our website, allows us to understand where we stand in architecture, appreciate its strengths, acknowledge its shortcomings, and move forward with new creations based on this understanding.
As a longstanding member of the Green Register, we recognize the urgent need to reduce the stress on the natural environment caused by escalating human consumption. This calls for a new chapter in the development of architectural form.
