ZEDPods is a turnkey modular build company developing high-specification, zero-carbon homes. The studio offers a full turnkey service covering feasibility, design, planning and delivery, and describes itself as one of the UK's leading zero-carbon building specialists.
ZEDPods homes are factory-built, precision-engineered volumetric homes, with around 90% of the building work completed in the factory before the units are delivered to site and installed. The model decouples land and building costs by placing affordable living space above existing car parks, garages and hard-standing areas, making use of air rights and difficult-to-develop brownfield land.
Working largely in the social housing sector, ZEDPods delivers affordable, low-carbon homes for housing associations and local authorities, with a focus on tackling both housing need and energy poverty.
Design Director Lalit Chauhan features on the Architecture Social Podcast, discussing the studio's zero-carbon approach, modular delivery, the performance gap and building a sustainable business.
