A standard architecture CV is usually one or two pages. One page can work for students and very early-career candidates. Two pages is common when you have enough project evidence to justify it.
The bigger point is not the exact page count. The CV has to be easy to scan, relevant to the role and supported by the portfolio.

This Architecture Social video is relevant because CV size and portfolio format work together in a real application.
Related audio: avoid weak attachment habits
This related episode is a useful reminder that file names, attachments and application basics can damage an otherwise good first impression.
How long should an architecture CV be
- Part I or student CV: often one page if the evidence is focused.
- Part II or architectural assistant CV: one to two pages depending on project experience.
- Architectural designer or senior CV: two pages can be sensible if responsibility is clear.
- Avoid three pages unless there is a strong reason.
- Use the portfolio for visual evidence, not the CV.
Should the CV be inside the portfolio
Do not rely on the portfolio to carry the CV. Send a standalone CV and a portfolio or portfolio link, unless the practice has asked for one combined document.
A combined document can be useful for interview or presentation, but the initial application should make each file easy to identify and open.
File size and naming matter
Use clear file names. Avoid old versions, vague titles and huge attachments. A practice should not have to guess which document is current.
Common mistakes
- Making the CV longer to feel more experienced.
- Adding portfolio images to the CV instead of linking the portfolio properly.
- Using tiny text to fit too much onto one page.
- Sending files with unclear names.
- Forgetting to test links before applying.
Architecture Social view
Stephen’s recruiter view is that CV size is a judgement call. The right length is the one that gives the reader enough evidence without slowing them down.
