I began designing this house during my time as a student, making it particularly special to me as my first independent project.
The interior of the house exudes a serene atmosphere and features spacious and well-lit spaces. Every design choice made respects the minimalist essence of the project, utilizing understated materials and soft tones such as beige walls, white slabs, glass, wood, and zinc. The beauty of simplicity is evident throughout the entire space, down to the smallest details.
However, the true centerpiece of this house is the surrounding nature. Sliding windows offer uninterrupted views of the lush green landscape, providing a captivating scene of the Sintra mountains.
The beauty of the natural surroundings necessitates that the project harmonizes with the environment in which it is situated. By utilizing the land effectively, half of the house is buried, creating the illusion of a single-story structure when viewed from the entrance on the upper level. The use of delicate and subtle lines adds a sense of lightness, giving the impression that the house has been seamlessly integrated into the mountain habitat for ages.
