Exploring the Manchester School Of Architecture’s Innovative Curriculum
With a strong academic background and practical experience, Irvine has developed a keen understanding of architectural theory and application. His studies at the Manchester School of Architecture, which is renowned for its innovative approach and rigorous curriculum, have equipped him with the skills necessary to tackle complex design challenges. He is particularly interested in sustainable architecture and urban regeneration, areas which are becoming increasingly vital as cities evolve.
The framework he developed aimed to integrate residential, commercial, and recreational spaces, creating a balanced urban environment. This holistic approach not only addressed the immediate needs of the community but also anticipated future growth, ensuring the sustainability of his designs.
His final project involved extensive research and practical application of urban design principles. Irvine’s Final project began from a city-wide analysis of the City of Milan, Italy creating a framework that integrated primary and secondary activities, helping various communities to take advantage of the pedestrian traffic that passes through the area.
This was then tested out on a 40ha master plan around a wholesale market, where he designed a thriving community that provides a solution to how industrial land can be used in a circular system, engaging and improving the local businesses and community
