Hames Sharley planned this Adelaide office floorplate to house two independent companies, Robert Bird Group and SMEC, both members of the Surbana Jurong Group of Companies and frequent collaborators on projects. The layout gives each group a degree of separation while pulling collaborative and multi-use zones into the centre of the fitout, so shared working stays the norm rather than the exception.
The brief called for around 25 workstations; the finished plan carries 34, with the extra nine built in for future growth. Delivery was kept tight on both cost and programme, completing in 2018 to a budget of AUD 550,000 across a 450 square metre floorplate.
