Set in an established residential suburb of Brisbane and looking out over a treed golf course, The Golf House is a single-storey home completed by Studio 15B in late 2014 for a retired couple who entertain a large extended family regularly.
The plan turns on a polished timber floor that runs from the front door, through the entry and out onto the pool deck, drawing the golf-course view into the home the moment a visitor steps inside. That central axis also separates the private wing of bedrooms and bathrooms from the public living, dining and kitchen zone. A double-volume entry sits between the two, flanked by a stone-clad blade wall with deep timber-veneer reveals and lit from above by high-level glazing. An oversized pendant hangs in the void and reads as a moon at night.
Single-storey planning means there are no internal stairs, allowing the owners to remain in the home for as long as their health allows. Outdoors, electric buggy access connects the rear of the home directly to the course, and a private putting green sits next to the outdoor entertaining area for practice and for entertaining grandchildren.
At 444 m², the result is a quiet luxury of stone, timber and glass, with a relaxed natural feel that makes the most of the wooded outlook and supports a golf-course lifestyle long into retirement.
