EPR Architects is an award-winning practice with a well-established reputation for quality architecture, masterplanning and interior design thanks to our extensive experience delivering an array of building typologies across workplace, lifestyle and leisure sectors.
From our central London and Wrocław studios, our experienced team of over 200 talented people collaborate to produce vibrant and inventive architecture in response to our client’s unique requirements. This approach, understanding and experience has ensured our continuous association with many of the country’s leading clients.
We pride ourselves on delivering sustainable, stimulating environments – often collaborating with renowned artists and interior designers to push brief boundaries with bold, bespoke design solutions whilst championing the need for public art.
We are dedicated to nurturing the best talent and skills and we do this by investing in people and in the technical resources to support them. We are committed to the Building Information Modelling (BIM) process, a working method that we believe significantly benefits our clients.
We support and actively encourage our staff to engage in a range of activities outside their project work that benefit the construction industry and the wider community; many of our staff are active members of local amenity groups, awards judging, expert assessors and design review panellists.
We are proud of the creative, social and passionate community that makes EPR Architects a great place to work; we share design news, hold regular internal presentations, lectures and debates and organise several sporting and social events throughout the year.
The layout of our London studio, which neighbours Tate Britain, follows the buildings Y-shape to create a collaborative and non-heirarchal atmosphere.
30 Millbank also houses our dedicated modelshop, Technical Services Department and the Materials Council, the industry’s leading material consultants whom work closely with our designers to source the best material for each project.
We provide a weekly yoga class as part of our commitment to staff welfare and fitness, and organise several sporting events throughout the year, including softball and tennis tournaments, an annual triathlon and regular 7-aside football games against subcontractors and consultants. We strongly support the use of cycling for both commuting and travelling to meetings and offer our staff a cycle-to-work scheme and onsite shower facilities.
We provide our employees with the opportunity to participate in a programme of structured and unstructured CPD. The CPD Group organise an extensive programme of events including lunchtime seminars by members of the RIBA CPD network and professional consultants; peer group project presentations; site visits; and architectural film screenings.
We also believe that drawing is still an integral part of architecture and provide regular life drawing classes for all our staff, taught by specialist tutors from the nearby Chelsea College of Art.
As proud advocates of equality, diversity and inclusion, we want EPR Architects to be a place where everyone can thrive and everyone feels welcome. Our aspiration is a workforce that reflects the communities we work within at all levels; therefore, we are committed to nurturing a diverse talent pipeline within our studios and the wider construction industry.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Working Group
EPR’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Working Group aims to empower the widest possible pool of talent to thrive, both within the practice and across the wider construction industry. Spanning an array of disciplines and levels of seniority, the group works closely with our partners at Built By Us — a social enterprise on a mission to grow diversity and inclusion in the built environment sector. These efforts are currently focused on the development of the EPR Everyone Strategy; a document co-created by the entire practice through a series of focus groups and opinion studies that outlines our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion action plan.
Sustainability
Climate change and corporate social responsibility are the two most urgent global issues. International governments, regulatory bodies and the public have recognised the necessity to act and the market demands ever higher levels of environmentally and socially sustainable development.
EPR Architects has a long history in sustainable architecture having designed both the first office development in the country to use combined heat and power (CHP) technology and the first residential development to win an ‘excellent’ EcoHomes rating from the Building Research Establishment. Today, sustainability is embedded into our design approach. In close consultation with our clients and other consultants, we look at a whole range of relevant considerations from air quality, transport, light pollution, community issues, safety and opportunities for increased natural bio-diversity.
Our designs use massing, orientation and façade engineering to reduce the carbon footprint of a building. We have completed buildings with triple-glazed, active solar walls, winter-gardens, self-ventilated façades and numerous other building fabric solutions to provide natural light whilst minimising solar heat-gain and glare. We have also participated in the development of a swimming pool cover with an integrated heat-recovery system for one of the leading hotel operators.
