About

Dieter Bentley-Gockmann is a Board Director at EPR Architects, where he leads the practice's legal and technical services. He oversees the in-house Technical Services team that supports the studio's designers on technical design, construction best practice, quality and risk management, and professional and legal matters.

A qualified architect, Dieter studied at the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University, before completing a master's degree in Construction Law and Arbitration at King's College London. He spent his early career running projects in small and medium-sized practices, worked for a period as an expert witness on professional negligence cases, and joined EPR in 2006, becoming a director the following year.

He chairs the RIBA's Regulations and Standards advisory group and sits on the RIBA's Practice and Profession committee. He is the author of RIBA health and safety guidance written from an architect and designer's perspective, including guidance on the role of the Principal Designer under the Building Safety Act. Dieter mentors a new cohort of Part III candidates each year and is a founding member of Built By Us's FLUID diversity mentoring programme.
