We are an internationally-renowned practice of over 250 award-winning architects, interior designers, urban designers and researchers. Founded in 1988, we bring a wealth of experience designing and delivering innovative and socially sustainable buildings across multiple sectors, including: education, workplace, residential, infrastructure & transport, and civic, community & culture. People are at the heart of everything we do, from our design approach to the way our studio runs. Our talented designers bring a fresh and collaborative approach to each new design challenge, creating places with personality and purpose that are well-made, well-used and well-loved. We have studios in London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Dublin and Los Angeles.
We are constantly seeking enthusiastic, proactive, and talented individuals to join our teams in the UK, Ireland, and the USA. Below, you'll find information about our work approach, our ownership structure, our advocacy groups, and the benefits you can enjoy as part of our team.
Our Work Approach
We strive to create spaces that respond to social and contextual needs, actively engaging with people and their surroundings. Our projects address a range of contemporary architectural issues, such as community engagement, innovative work practices, research, sustainability, mixed-use developments, cultural considerations, new construction, retrofitting, and public spaces. We use the phrase "from district to doorknob" to highlight the level of detail and variety of scales we explore in our work.
Our Ownership
Since 2021, we have been 100% employee-owned, meaning that every team member is a co-owner, an ambassador, and an entrepreneur within our organization. We believe this ownership structure keeps us innovative and responsive. We have an employee council that engages in discussions on various matters, whether significant or minor, ranging from design processes and diversity to corporate social responsibility and even bathroom supplies. The council, comprised of peer-elected members, represents the diverse voices within HawkinsBrown and serves as a conduit between employees, voice groups, and the trust board, operations board, and design exchange.
Our Advocacy Groups
We have five employee advocacy groups that provide spaces for open discussions, support, education, and celebration. These groups include:
