Matthew Jackson is Business Development Director at BIMobject, the Malmö-based digital construction marketplace. He studied architecture and worked as a Part 1 architectural assistant after graduating during the 2008 financial crisis, designing schools, hospitals and public projects before moving into technology.
His route into the digital side of the industry ran through CAD and Apple hardware, helping to launch AutoCAD for Mac and later selling Revit, before joining BIMobject in 2014 when it was a 26-person Swedish start-up. He has since helped grow it into a global scale-up, heading up business development and speaking regularly at industry conferences on BIM, product data and sustainability.
Matthew is a strong advocate for the idea that architectural training is highly transferable. The ability to create ideas from scratch, present them and defend them under pressure is, he argues, rare and valuable well beyond traditional practice.
