Set on an 874 square metre site at Connewarre on Victoria's Bellarine coast, Cashmore House is a single-level home that draws on historical modernist planning. Lachlan Shepherd Architects arranged the living zones and bedrooms around a central, north-facing courtyard, so daily life turns inward to a sheltered outdoor heart while still drawing in northern light.
The 375 square metre plan rests on a pared-back material palette. A central spine of precast concrete anchors the house and gives it mass, set deliberately against a lightweight, expressed-steel skeleton. That contrast between heavy and light, completed in 2019, is what gives the home its quietly modern character.
