“Interlocking Studios” by Mara Fetche

Mara Fetche is a recent Part 1, First Class Architecture Graduate from the University of Greenwich who also received a nomination for the prestigious 2020 RIBA Bronze Medal.

Throughout her academic journey, Mara has demonstrated exceptional creativity and a keen understanding of architectural principles, making her a promising candidate for any architectural practice. Mara Fetche’s Impact on Architectural Innovation

Her final design project is called Interlocking Studios, Fish Island. This ambitious project, placed within an existing site structure, proposes a model of meanwhile use for industrial sites, which is a concept that has gained traction in urban design due to its ability to repurpose underutilised spaces.

The project invites a local artist from the vibrant community of Fish Island to collaborate with two renowned artists, creating a unique synergy of creativity and local culture. Interlocking Studios serves not only as a workspace but also as a dynamic hub for public engagement, where visitors can interact with the artists and participate in various workshops.

It features an exhibition gallery space that allows for rotating displays of art, thereby fostering a continuous dialogue between the artists and the community. The scheme has been meticulously modelled in Rhino, with visualisations brought to life using Illustrator, Photoshop, and V-Ray, showcasing Mara’s proficiency in digital design tools and her ability to convey architectural ideas effectively.
